A healthy digestive system is essential for the body to function properly. Three Rivers Medical Center offers gastrointestinal (GI) services, including endoscopy, to help doctors diagnose and treat GI issues and get your digestive system back on track.
Endoscopy Department - An Overview
The Endoscopy Unit at Three Rivers Medical Center diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the GI tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, bile ducts).
Endoscopy is a diagnostic medical procedure that examines the interior surfaces of an organ by inserting a tube into the body. The exam provides an image for visual inspection and photography, as well as enables biopsies and retrieval of foreign objects. Endoscopy is a common procedure used in minimally invasive surgery. Patients may receive conscious sedation so that they are not aware of any discomfort during their procedure.
Nationally recognized quality
Three Rivers Medical Center received a national recognition from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) for quality service and patient safety in 2013. The ASGE Unit Recognition Program is designed to honor facilities that excel in following the ASGE guidelines for quality care. TRMC is one of 450 endoscopy units nationwide, one of six in the state of Kentucky, and the only one in the tri-state area to receive this recognition.
ASGE is the profession's leader in setting standards of excellence in endoscopy through its safety guidelines and the training of its members so that patients receive the best and safest care possible.
