TRMC is highly regarded across the Big Sandy Valley for its specialized maternal and newborn care. Our OB/GYN Services Department is staffed with trained and competent RNs and LPNs. Several of the RNs are nationally-certified in obstetrical care. It is the goal of the Obstetrical Department to provide excellent medical, nursing, and support services in such a manner that each patient's health is improved, or through the natural process of childbirth, both mother and baby have a happy, healthy, and positive experience.

Services include comprehensive pregnancy care, including ultrasound and nutrition services. The department has birthing suites that are arranged and decorated to promote a family-oriented atmosphere, and are equipped with today's modern fetal monitoring devices and a central monitoring station.

Education

Prepared childbirth classes are offered at TRMC. Classes are scheduled the second Thursday of every month and are taught by trained OB staff. Assistance

The Tiny Toes Maternity Program combines the specialized facilities and helpful staff of TRMC, the knowledge and experience of physicians and specially trained nurses, and information about pregnancy to provide a comprehensive healthcare resource for new parents. All expectant mothers are eligible to join the Tiny Toes Maternity Program. All members receive monthly information newsletters, Tiny Toes Take-Home kits, access to online information about delivering at Three Rivers Medical Center, and access to the Tiny Toes Internet Nursery. Breast Health Services

Breast Health Services bring education, screening, diagnostic, and support services to women right here in the Lawrence County area. Clinical services include low-dose mammography, breast ultrasound, glactogram, cyst aspiration, needle localization, needle biopsy, and sterotactic breast biopsy.

The Radiology Department features a special breast cancer detection unit. Modern equipment, dedicated solely to mammography examinations performed by skilled technologists, is available upon referral by a physician. Our Mammography Unit is certified by both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
