TRMC’s bariatric surgeon, Dr. Laura Velcu, says there are benefits far beyond weight loss with weight loss surgery. “Many people have issues that are related to their weight, but with weight loss surgery those issues are reduced or eliminated. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and sleep apnea have all been proven to reduce dramatically if a patient undergoes surgery and follows the diet and plan afterwards.”
Our support group meets monthly at 6:00 p.m. on the TRMC campus in the first floor conference room. We welcome those interested in surgical weight loss and their families, along with current patients and those who’ve been through the procedure. We consider the support group one of the essentials of a successful surgical weight loss program.
Registration for these programs is not necessary. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Robin Barker, bariatric coordinator at 606-638-3813.
