Three Rivers Medical Center (TRMC) pulmonologist, Iyad Asaad, M.D., recently received board-certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) sub-specialty in Critical Care. 

The ABIM enhances the quality of healthcare by certifying internist and subspecialists who demonstrate the knowledge, skill and attitudes essential for excellent patient care. 

Board certification denotes that a physician has gone beyond the minimum requirements and provides assurance that a physician has the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience needed to deliver optimum care in a specific area. 

Dr. Asaad is a 1996 graduate of Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria.  He completed his residency/pulmonary fellow at Marshall University School of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine where he was the chief resident.  Asaad also completed his critical care fellowship at University of Pittsburgh in 2008.
